Not a fan of Robinson and his constant racist undertones.

But he does a fine job here of capturing some of the strengths Stafford has demonstrated in a few chosen plays.

Manipulating the defense with his body and eyes, threading the pass to Kupp in a small window, getting through progressions.

There are some inconsistencies and as we have seen bonehead decisions by Stafford. Throwing a stupid pick in the red zone, throwing deep on 3rd and short with underneath guys wide open on consecutive possessions etc.

The question will be which Stafford shows up during the playoff run. He has a strong supporting cast to make a Super Bowl run if he can play his best football in the post season. Assuming the defense gets fixed.

Hopefully the short comings are due to lack of timing with the team/receivers. We had a gauntlet of payoff teams and most likely the toughest 5 game stretch based on last year.

Short comings? Do you expect perfection?? He's been very damn good against teams that made the playoffs last year or will this year. Night and day better than Goff's last 3 years.

Stafford's NFL ranks through 5 weeks:

Passing Yards: 3rd
Yards Per Pass Attempt: 2nd
TDs: 4th
QBR: 2nd
Passer Rating: 3rd
Completion Percentage: 9th

Kurt's a great analyst. He should be doing more of this. And he needs to ignore the fanboi masses who don't give a shit about tape and want to make it all about feelings. :thumbsup1:

quite revealing... especially how everyone was mad at stafford for missing that throw to kupp

it actually appears it was kupp not running the right route depth.

KW was the best QB I've ever seen. So glad I had the chance to have him on our Rams. This was some Grade A analysis and makes me feel like I'm in the QB room dissecting film after the game.

All that said, hate the way that Cardinals jersey is what's hanging in the background, and that he clearly prefers his time in the desert. BAH. HUMBUG.

Goff's last 3 yrs

2018 - started 8-0 among leaders in ypa

2019 - started 3-1, Then brought team back in Seattle and "The Leg" misses a 40 yarder. Then OL & Cooks were hit with injuries and D was poor.

2020 - started 4-1, including a loss in Buffalo where he left the field with the lead.

Not saying Goff is better by no means. Stafford is more physically gifted and more experienced no doubt, but lets not act like Goff was a joke and didn't produce at a high level most of the time. He just flaked out too many times the last two yrs when his OL gave up pressure.

Wins aren't a QB stat. Notice I didn't include wins, I only posted QB passing statistics. That much should be clear by now watching Stafford in LA vs in Det. But I'm not trying to knock Goff's 2018, he was very good most of the season. I was referring to 2019, 2020, and thus far in 2021 as his "last 3 years." Not trying to talk about Goff though, it's just Malibu was one of the biggest Goff fans and skeptics regarding the Stafford trade. He talked shit on it big time. So when he makes comments like his "short comings," I'm only pointing out how great Stafford has played thus far. He's top 5 in every passing category through 5 weeks except competition % where he ranks 9th. If he continues playing at this level we should be able to get where we want to go.

Lets not forget how horrible the defense has been. If we had last year's defense we would be 5-0. We cant expect Stafford to be perfect is my point. He's been excellent so far and the statistics and game film support that.

Bobby Wagner made an interesting point about Rams game. Said Rams ran their routes deeper than Seattle had seen on film. But as he noted, that only works if QB has time to throw. So, as most things in football do, came back to Rams winning that part of the line of scrimmage.

----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

This is the difference that I've mentioned in other posts. McVay has Stafford reading long to short and is scheming his route concepts deeper across the board. This is why the Rams treat 3rd and long like it was no different than say 3rd and 5. McVay is showing his confidence in the OL protection, by playing a lot of empty backfields.

McVay's passing scheme has also changed in other ways. He's isn't layering his receivers in the same way as in previous years. The WRs look to have more route options this year. It has lead to some miscommunication on throws but it's something that once Stafford and the receivers get in sync will be very hard to defend by the DBs.

If Higbee doesn't play or is limited, will McVay use Harris? These next games would be the perfect opportunity to test Harris' progress. I would love to see Harris and D. Jax on the field at the same time.

This is no longer a possession-oriented pass attack. The deep strike looks to be Sean's primary goal with everything else as setup.
