That move reeks of desperation. Apple is a turd of a player. I'll bet right now he won't last until the playoffs, Payton will cut his @$$ once he settles in and they get a feel for him.

Eli Apple - DB - Saints
Saints acquired CB Eli Apple from the Giants in exchange for a 2019 fourth-round pick and a 2020 seventh-round pick.

The Saints were reportedly in the market for Cardinals CB Patrick Peterson, but it does not seem like Arizona is open to moving their star corner. Apple had a rocky run in New York and is not near Peterson's level, but he has played pretty well this season. This is a good get for New Orleans at a great price. Following this trade, the Saints are now without their first-, third- and fourth-round picks in the 2019 draft.

The Saints along with thier Sports Media darling highly regarded HC (Who I just happen to have abby normal amount of contempt, distaste, disgust, disdain, scorn, loathe ......should I go on???) ....now know they will face the best 3 WR's on one team ....Woods/Cooks/Kupp in less than two weeks.... They had to do something.

For the PFF fans:

Looks like the Saints got themselves a CB who grades above average at 64.1 (link).
But Apple's not as good as Troy Hill at 69.3 (link).

Edit: For everyone else:

To me, this move feels like a passenger putting on a little kiddie-sized pink inflatable water wing on an arm while waiting for the Titanic to hit that iceberg.

You have to think if teams around us that are our main competition begin to add stuff like bitter beer face Payton and the saints with Apple Snead will at least try and tinker somehow. No?????
