Per Wagoner's chat:

On free agency, let me make something clear so everyone understands it. Much like the draft, free agency isn't a place you go to just fill a need if you're in the Rams' position. A wise man once told me '[hil]It's about players, it's ALWAYS about players[/hil].' In other words, if you target a top tight end and you don't get him, you don't simply go on to the next tight end. Maybe you have a player at safety you like next best. You have to stack a board for free agency just like the draft so you are getting maximum value for your dollars and you have to weigh that against what you can get in the draft, a place where players almost always come cheaper. I do think there are some potential targets for the Rams in free agency that would make sense, particularly at tackle, safety and tight end. Naturally, if say you fill tight end and tackle in free agency, you can then use the draft for other needs. If Jackson leaves, I think the Rams like their other RB options but I wouldn't be at all surprised if they used a pick, even a high pick on a back. On Richardson, I do think he'd be in play if he was available at 16. Players like that are hard to pass on.
