Now we all know Sam isn't gonna miss a snap and lead us to the promised land, but somebody has to hold the clip board. I'll give you my top three.

1. Michael Vick

Yes, I do want Vick in horns just for the fun of it. I can't it, crazy exciting to think about. At 35 he's not crazy old, but pretty old.

2. Matt Hasselback

Here's the crazy old guy, but you won't ffinds better decision maker on the market. Use to hate this guy, but boy was he great and I don't think he's washed up just yet.

3. Mark Sanchez

Because I think he's better than Matt Flynn, but Idk

Honorable Mention : Thad Lewis

Because I don't want Matt Flynn or Mark Sanchez. Always wondered always wondered would could have been with this guy. I'd take him as third string.

Matt Moore or Brian Hoyer. Those guys can actually start in this league. Jake Locker is interesting too, he's easily the best QB available but just as injury prone as Bradford, if not more. Ryan Mallett's still young and has great talent and learned behind Brady for a few years, coming off a bad injury though. Obviously Sanchez is playing well and knows the current offense. Ponder and Gabbert have talent and as backups might be to do just enough to not lose you games, manage games, while occasionally making a play when their talent shows. There's a ton of interesting players there, I think if we wanted we could set the backup position up nicely.

Nice list @mr.stlouis...

I like the first two a lot but don't see Sanchez getting away from the Eagles after how he's been playing. They will offer a decent contract me thinks!

That list really makes Shaun Hill look like a pretty good option. I'd maybe see what McCoy is able to do the rest of the season though. He would have some actual talent here.

Bring back Shaun Hill.

Agreed on one condition... That he come back for backup type money. That's no given if the Rams win out, for example, as he may get visions of a possible starting gig in his head along with better than backup pay.

Sam may balk at a pay cut too, btw. Lotta moving parts here right now.

I'm thinking our QB roster will look like this if I had to guess...

Hill OR Bradford (One of them will not come cheap and will leave)
Davis (Cheap with upside will be in camp)
Gilbert (Cheap with upside may make strides in second camp worth a look)
Draftee (They will pounce on the guy they like even if it's up high and they have to reach a little, the need is that high)

If they trade for a QB then replace the top line with that guy.

Locker is probably one of the best athletes to play QB. I think it's safe to say he has some accuracy issues but wouldn't mind taking a waver on him, if there isn't a better option available in the draft. I think they should roll the dice with 3 QB's this year. Bradford, Hill, (TBD). Locker could be that guy if there isn't a QB available in the draft.

1. Vick - NO! Not only would I not consider him I'm taken aback that he's #1 on your list.
2. Hasselbeck - No. Doesn't offer anything more than Hill at this stage. Plus, he's going to be 40+ years old!!! C'mon, how can this even be an option for you?
3. Sanchez - Not opposed to the player but this is a pipe dream. Seriously, if we're going to talk about guys this unattainable let's just focus the discussion on acquiring Aaron Rodgers. I mean, if we're going to dream, let's dream BIG!

$1.7 or whatever he is making is back up money. If the Rams win out and he plays well he may very well get a "Orton" type offer, one year for $5M to two years $9M. To me, he is worth keeping. If the Rams keep Bradford at a reduced price I do not want him backed up by a rookie and I certainly don't want a rookie starting....not if the Rams have any plans on making a play off run. Hill has a good understanding of the offense and is a very solid guy. I don't think Hoyer (for example) is going to come cheaper and is not as good in my opinion. Giving hill a two year $6M offer before FA starts (with almost all guarenteed) should bring him back.

Hill's age is worrisome heading into next year. On the one hand, his game and what he currently offers isn't really predicated on his physical ability but at 35, he's not inspiring a lot of confidence in his ability to stay healthy. Maybe it's bias but IMO, he doesn't look like Favre or Warner or Moon or some of these other guys did at 35. He doesn't seem to put much focus on optimizing what he's got physically.

I dont disagree with that. All those guys are HOF QBs, so, it makes sense Hill doesn't have their physical ability. Who knows how hard he works....I will say, he works hard enough to be in the league for 13 years.
Anyway, depends on what role he wanted for. As a backup I would love to bring Hill back, age doesn't matter much to me there. As a stop gap starter for a year I am fine with it, but, better have the "new" guy working over time. I just don't think any of the FA are better...and a guy like Hoyer, because he is younger and was just starting, is going to ask for more money. I would resign Hill now.

If Sanchez keeps playing the way he has the last 3 weeks, averaging 35 pts a game, he would be worth a look, to back-up Bradford.

I'm all for discussion on the topic, just don't like your choices.

More importantly, I explained why.

You kind of did that [politician] thing where you say you disagree, why you did, and offer no alternative. You offered nothing, but that's ok. It's not like there's a time limit on a thread. Plenty of time time fully express your opinion, I want to know.

Let's not go the political route here - eh man? Appreciate it. Stu

Rams will look at Hoyer IMO and if the Rams want a younger Shaun Hill than Matt Moore would be a viable option...Moore's a tad more athletic and has had checkered success like most back ups.

In the end the Rams still have four more games and if Hill plays well in the majority of them and the Rams stick with Schottenheimer and QB Coach Frank Cignetti then like others have posted Hill might be the person they actually bring back unless he gets a better deal.

Not a fan of Matt Moore. I watched him in college out here and haven't seen him really become a viable option in the Pros. The guy plays small and is pretty weak. I just never thought his game would transfer to the pros and it hasn't. He had one ok "season" where he played a few games against some pretty bad teams.

Hoyer is pretty much who he is. A QB with suspect accuracy who will get you about as many INTs as TDs.

Sadly, I think our current back-ups compare favorably to most on the list. I think there will be some that become available due to cap situations but will we be in the running for a recent starter?

I'm not a Jason Campbell guy but when you look at that list, he doesn't seem like a terrible option. I'd still like to see how Colt McCoy plays out the season though I'm not sure he gets out of WA if he plays well down the stretch.

All these guys will be free agents for a reason. There is really no good options but I would take Sanchez if anything. He should be a last resort 3rd option so he would need to sign a low contract and he could probably get better offers. We just need someone who doesn't turn the ball over and minimizes damages at that point.
