Ok, I will express my opinion. Thank you very much. Though in reality I am entitled to it. But thanx anyways. Sam will be back next year because it would be cap suicide if he weren't. And realistically we do have to pay out his contract. I do expect we go QB in the first or second round. As an insurance policy.

Actually letting him go is NOT cap sucide. If they kept him his cap number $16.8mil, if they let him go it is only $3.6 mil. That is over $12mil in cap space letting him go, we are opnly on the hook for a bit of bonus money. The fact of the matter is Ramfanz is right no team would keep him under the current contract at those dollars. Figure they will pay out the bonus's they need to, and if he does come back it owuld be under a REAL friendly prove it deal.

It would be cap suicide this year. Because his settlement would be considerably higher than this years salary. Add another $4M. Minimum.

Please read the link below. While an injury settlement could be as much as his entire salary for this season, it can't be more.

I understand what you are saying. But, on the one hand we are talking about a settlement. On the other we're talking about effective cap hit. He would get the full value of this years salary. To cut him the cap hit for 2014 would be the settlement plus the accelerated signing bonus for next year.
