Draft guys, help me out here. Don't their skill-sets overlap or possibly even duplicate each other's? Why would we draft Engram unless we're already ready to move on from Higbee (which may be fine, he certainly hasn't shown that he's a contributor yet).

I think they do somewhat.... one is tall and fairly fast ...should be a mismatch .... the other blazing fast smaller but should be a mismatch ... I'm not sure that we will take Engram. .or who would block like Vernon Davis's role with the Redskins..... but if we do its because McVey wants to use both, or has a plan for both Higbee and Engram on the field at the same time.... much like Vernon Davis and Jordan Reed. That's my guess.... ;)

Go Rams......... ;)

Higbee's a big target type TE with good hands and radius and sneaky speed for his size. Engram's a smaller speed type TE who has some wideout to him.

I'd rather have a guy like Butt in round 3 or 4 who can slide into the bottom of the depth chart and they get a guy who can have year one impact there at 37. If they take Engram I'll be fine with it and everything, but would just go a different way myself.

I'd rather wait til the fourth and pick up Kittle from Iowa. I think it would be a better value for the team. The kid is a player.

Been seeing his name more and more in mocks of late. Not sure he'll make it to round 4. If I'm a GM and I'm hell bent on adding a good TE, round 3 is the round I do it, maybe after a trade down within the round.

:) Good question after just read Corbin's and Jrry's latest mock drafts. I would like to see what everyone has to say.

Engram looks smooth for a big pass catcher. Nice big target in a zone sit down and he has very good acceleration off the line and after the catch. He also can go up high and get it.

Higbee has better hands and big catch radius. He has good speed for his size but, not Engram speed. Better blocker but he has to show improvement this year.

I can see it going either way. These two might be moving up. Higbee and Engram McVay can play in all three route levels. Higbee not as deep but he can get down the field. It's how McVay values the mismatches they can create with speed and size.

Higbee, Cooper, and all of the WR's last year frustrated the cr@p out of me.....I'm sure they were hampered by Fisher and the effed Offensive scheme, but I am tired of the inneffective dink and dunk game. Throw the ball downfield, Mr Goff! For Goff to be able to do that, we need a freaking Center drafted high in the draft. Solidify the Oline, and these supposed good players in a bad Fisher system should shine, right?

Why cant Engram compliment Higbee??? We're going to have 2 TE on field often, why cant they both be awesome?
Id sign up for a Gronk/Hernandez pair (sans the whole multiple murder & suicide bit)

To some degree, yes. But Higbee can block well enough to be an inline TE.
