Reports are another motorist stopped his ride share vehicle when Jackson got ill and the two were standing next to the drivers F-150 when the drunk driver, who also doesn't have a license it seems, plowed into them killing both. Tragic news of yet more lives lost to idiots driving drunk. When will people learn?

The driver of the truck, who police identified as Alex Cabrera of Indianapolis, fled the scene on foot, according to the police report. He was apprehended a short time later. Police said Cabrera was driving without a license, and they believe he was intoxicated at the time of the incident.

INDIANAPOLIS -- The suspect in a crash that killed two people, including an Indianapolis Colts player, early Sunday morning is in the United States illegally, police say.

The crash happened around 4 a.m. Sunday, along I-70 near Holt Road in Indianapolis.

According to a release from Indiana State Police, Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson was the passenger in an Uber vehicle when he got sick. The driver, 54-year-old Jeffrey Monroe, pulled over on I-70 to help him.

Both men were outside the car when a black Ford F-150 drove into the shoulder and struck the car. Jackson and Monroe were pronounced dead at the scene.

The suspected driver of the F-150, Manuel Orrego-Savala, 37, first fled the scene on foot but was caught. Police reported they believe he was intoxicated and driving without a license.

On Monday, ISP detectives learned that Orrego-Savala first gave police a false name. Orrego-Savala is a citizen of Guatemala by birth, not Mexico as Marion County Jail records show. Orrego-Savala is in the United States illegally, and has been previously deported in 2007 and 2009, police say.

Federal immigration officials have placed a hold on him.

Jackson, 26, played in all 16 games for the Colts in 2016. He started 8 games, recording 42 total tackles. He was injured for the 2017 season.

Current and former Colts teammates tweeted about Jackson's death, saying he was always happy and smiling.

The man accused of killing Indianapolis Colts linebacker Edwin Jackson and another man is a Guatemalan immigrant who was in the country illegally and using an alias, according to police.

Manuel Orrego-Savala told police his name was Alex Cabrera Gonsales when he was arrested Sunday morning after allegedly ramming a black Ford F-150 pickup truck onto the emergency shoulder of an Indianapolis highway, killing Jackson and Jeffrey Monroe, a 54-year-old from Avon.

The 37-year-old, who was born in Guatemala, was driving without a driver's license and attempted to flee the scene of the accident on foot, according to Marion County Police.

Orrego-Savala had a blood-alcohol level of at least .15, which is nearly twice the legal limit, police said. He had previously been deported from the United States on two occasions, in 2007 and again in 2009.

Federal Immigration officials have placed a hold on him, and he is currently being held in the Marion County Jail. When he was arrested he told police he was a Mexican immigrant.

Good for you. The identity of the scumbag who killed this player is part of this thread. No need to get into arguments over illegal immigration, pro or con, which would lead to this thread being locked. A young man's life being tragically snuffed out at 26 by a drunk driver is the core of this story.

This happens a lot more than you think. I know 3 people that have gotten into horrible wrecks. Some idiot pulls right out in front of them, terrible crash and out of the car comes out illegals who can not speak a word of English. One time a whole family, 4-5 kids were in the car. Hurt, but not serious. My friends truck T bones them and flipped end over end.
I seen right in front of my house a car that the driver had no idea how to actually drive. Every driveway they passed, even offramps, they wrong way they tried to turn on. I followed the car and out comes to Mexicans, cowboy type, hats and all and the woman was "trying" to drive. Yelled at them, did not understand a word of English. Went into the store like nothing happened. Its like they were "practicing" or something.
These people have no respect for our laws. Just the fact they are here proves that.
Get them out. They are not after "strawberry" picking jobs anymore. After REAL jobs. DO take them from citizens.
Here is what they do, get here however they can. I know a bunch that came here as mules running drugs. Then they pay someone 50$ for a fake SS card that looks EXACTLY like yours and mine. I had a gal show me hers and flick it with here finger and said, "see , now I am just as good as YOU, just as good". Now she a a good job at a university with top bennifits. Better than mine. Came here with a backpack full of heroin.
But once they get here, they have "RIGHTS". They know every way to get public assistance there is, they all know. Have lots of kids now you have to educate them. Anchor babies. Citizens , should not be but that is a whole other deal.
Its a huge problem. And if you say it the way it is the libs tell you you are "racist".
Just because someone calls you that does not mean you are one. Its actually just common sense. Can not have all these people pouring in from dirt poor countries and taking what we have. Its takes our collective wealth. Takes us all 'down". Like I wrote, these people are not after low level jobs anymore. After YOUR job. Happened to me. One guy got a job over me years ago and I knew for a fact he was illegal. The place we both applied to hired a Hispanic HR person. I was way over qualified for the position. But willing to take it. Times are better now but in a pinch I was willing to do it.
