Eddie Lacy agrees to terms with Seahawks

The Seahawks had a meeting with running back Eddie Lacy over the weekend and it appears it went well.

Lacy’s agents announced on Twitter that their client has agreed to terms with the Seahawks on a contract. There are no details about the terms of the deal.

Lacy also met with the Vikings over the weekend and was still talking to the Packers about a return to the team that made him a second-round pick in 2013. Lacy ran for 2,317 yards in his first two seasons, but poor conditioning and an ankle injury led to less impressive results the last two years.

He’ll join Thomas Rawls and C.J. Prosise in the running back mix in Seattle. It’s a group that looks promising if everyone’s healthy, but none of the three made it through a full season last year.

Lacy was one of four running backs reportedly scheduled for meetings with the Seahawks with Adrian Peterson, Latavius Murray and Jamaal Charles slated to visit after Lacy. Peterson took his meeting while Murray and Charles were scheduled for Tuesday and Wednesday, respectively. Murray has also visited with the Jaguars while the other two veterans haven’t been overwhelmed with interest on the open market.

UPDATE 12:25 p.m. ET: Adam Schefter of ESPN reports it is a one-year deal worth $5.5 million with $3 million in guaranteed money.

We did pretty well against him the last time we played gb I think. And Seattle's line is awful.

Low risk high reward. They've certainly failed free agency though. But not all teams need free agency. We will see
Yeah, it could be a good signing for them. I was just making a joke on how every move the hawks make is doted on by "experts". Then again they are top team in the league so they must be doing something right

Report: Eddie Lacy weighed 267 on a free agent visit

The Seahawks went a year without Beast Mode, and have now gone a la mode.

And since it happens to be Pi Day, it appears Eddie Lacy has eaten more than 3.14 of them.

According to Bob McGinn of the Milwaukee Journal Sentinel, the former Packers running back weighed in at 267 pounds during one of his free agent visits.

He met with the Packers, Vikings and Seahawks before signing with Seattle earlier today. Last year, he played at 234, or at least that’s what they listed him at. It may have been generous.

Lacy has struggled with his, ahem, conditioning throughout the last few years, and it’s probably part of the reason the Packers were unwilling to commit to him long-term.

It’s also worth noting that it comes from a veteran Green Bay scribe, who usually reserves this kind of blind item for draftable players this time of year.

Jamaal Charles will still visit the Seahawks

The Seahawks may not be done upgrading their backfield after signing Eddie Lacy.

Jamaal Charles, who had a previously scheduled visit to Seattle, is still planning to make that visit, according to multiple reports.

That’s a little surprising, as Lacy would seem to have already filled the Seahawks’ need for a running back. Then again, given the status of the running back market in free agency this year, Charles would probably come cheap for the Seahawks. Perhaps they think they can have an affordable backfield that includes both Lacy and Charles, not to mention holdovers Thomas Rawls, Alex Collins and C.J. Prosise.

Charles was cut by the Chiefs after injury-plagued seasons in both 2015 and 2016. At age 30 he probably doesn’t have a lot left, but he could fill in as a solid role player in a Seattle backfield that appears likely to be among the deepest in the NFL.

I was hoping they'd go for one of the broken down old guys. Lacy could be a beast if his head gets on straight. Lets hope he has an uncontrollable affection for mocha fudge latte's

Hate that lol every move a good team make is considered good and every move a rebuilding team makes is risky
