I guess D'Marco has a "soft-spot" in his heart for Ray-Ray....I don't see why people doubt this mans ability to win a starting spot. If not for off-field issues, he'd have been highly drafted...

I think people just want to see that he can play disciplined football.
It really does seem, that when he's on the field, flags are thrown his way.
I like his energy. He just has to redirect it.

Gregg Williams just seems like a perfect fit for Ray Ray's mentality.

I hope he's right!

If so; that's HUGE for this roster.

I just hope we have a little better luck with converted LB's than we do converted basketball plays. How is Fendi these days, anyhow? Lol

Yeah, that was random...

Just for the record...
Ray Ray had 7 penalties last year for a total of 70 yards. 3 were against Seattle.
I don't know how much I worry about special teams penalties - different animal than LBer.

This is pleasant to hear. Dunbar took a step back under Walton, but few players didn't. I hope this mini hype is legit. I'm very cautiously optimistic about Armstrong.

I hope ray ray gets in the starting lineup. When he's on the field he seems to play at a different speed that everyone else. I've noticed it in the preseason and on special teams trough out the season. But even do I like the guy his recklessness does scare me as far as penalties are concerned, and I can see him making a big play then start to celebrate while the play is still Goin on, lol. But he will intimidate a lot of offense players cut he brings the wood on every hit.

With all due respect to D'Marco, I don't see how anybody can say Armstrong is more dynamic than Ogletree.

Ogletree is going to make some noise this season. He's going to be all over the place.

There is something not only athletic about Ray Ray...He exerts menace to me. Could you imagine if both Ogletree and Armstrong were to be those Pro Bowl LB's this year...My Lord, the '85 Bear better step aside! :giggle:

I love Ray-Ray and think he is a big part of this defenses future.

But He is still raw at LB and the spot he's competing for is currently held by a pretty good player in Jo-Lonn Dunbar. I won't be surprised if Ray-Ray ends up taking snaps away from Dunbar, but I also believe it isn't a foregone conclusion that the position is Ray-Ray's to lose.

And with all due respect to you Zag he didn't say "more" he said AS

“He’s as dynamic as any linebacker they have”

But THAT he said AS surprises me cuz I share your expectation of Tree,I think he's (Tree) gonna be a monster UNLESS Williams decides to make Ray a blitz specialist, but THEN if he does once film get's around I think he becomes a decoy and Tree gets the action.

Ray Ray is shaping up to be the player to watch closely in preseason.

Agree with all this..Except the Jo Lon's a pretty good player part..But the way to end "raw-ness"? Put a lil heat on that b!tc#....Play the man...

You're right, but my view remains the same. No chance Armstrong is as dynamic as Ogletree.

He'll be exciting to watch this season now that his head won't be spinning as much as it was as a rookie. He's not the smartest, but he's incredibly athletic and reactive, and now that we don't have to smell the wood burning when he's trying to break things down mentally (they'll be a bit more automatic), he should shine.

I'm interested to hear your opinion on Dunbar...

Dunbar is an intense LB...But his main strength would be as a MLB. Not in front of the offenses strong side..He takes on blockers but doesn't disengage from them well enough to make the tackle. He excels in blitzing up the middle (not off the edge) and is great at diagnosing plays. He is weak in coverage. Having him as an OLB plays to his weaknesses, and allows good offensive teams to scheme him out of the game, or run right at him. His 2012 season while good, it allowed teams to get tape on him, and now they attack him. He's in decline at this moment, and leads one to wonder, was it all PED's in an attempt to lengthen his career? Something I just found, his old scouting report outta college...Seems similar to what you'd observe on any given sunday...
