For comic books fans , this is huge news

And the power of comic books

it's sounding more and more like Disney is about to buy up most of 20th Century Fox

at least their film production part of Fox

I think Fox will still keep their TV stuff like news and sports and stuff

but whats really at the heart of this deal

Fox owns the film rights to two major Marvel Properties

The Fantastic Four and the X-Men , and that is what Disney is after

That was pretty good, except for one point.

Disney didn't strongarm Jobs into selling Pixar.

Long story short, Jobs likely knew he was sick with cancer and knew he had to sell (I know he announced it very late, but I think the sale happened prior to the announcement, iirc).

Moreover, their deal with Disney was basically up.

The original deal had Pixar paying to produce the movies and Disney simply putting their name on it and putting it in theaters for a full 50% share. Well, Warner Bros and others were lining up to do exactly what Disney had been doing, but for only 10%. With all of the theme park and other tie-ins, a switch would have decimated Disney. Moreover, fully 50% of ALL Disney movie revenues at that time came from the Pixar movies which debuted only once every two years. So, with Disney movie division (live action and animated) in a slump and Dreamworks kicking butt, Disney had to buy Pixar.

Jobs refused as long as Eisner was involved with Disney. So, when Eisner agreed to leave and Bo Iger came in and hit it off with Jobs, Pixar was sold to Disney and Jobs became the single biggest Disney shareholder.

Disney in no way, shape, or form strongarmed Pixar. It was the other way around, actually.

Beyond that little piece of entertainment history, she got the rest pretty well spot on.

As for a PG Deadpool? Never happen. Fans wouldn't accept another Deadpool and Ryan Reynolds wouldn't do a PG version. So, either it's R or it doesn't happen.

As well, I could see Disney keeping the 21st Century Fox as a production company to release things that they wouldn't ordinarily release under the Disney banner.

That happens all the time in the movie business.

You're a good man. That's some old school love right there.
Good on ya
Thanks!

I buy them ~ 3 shares for their birthdays and Christmas. Keep that up, with dividend reinvestment, and maybe they'll be able to retire when they hit 20! ;)

was quieter then I thought it would be , although the news of Disney buying Fox started about a month ago , so today's news came as no surprise

I think Fox has gone up 12% over the last month , might be time to sell

This probably means end of the Simpsons, though. I don't think Matt Groening likes Disney at all.
