I will be straight forward and honest. I followed the Lions all of last year. I wanted to keep watching Goff - who I liked in the draft. I wanted to keep following Aubrey Pleasant who I felt was instrumental in helping Staley grow his philosophy.

I also wanted to follow Brad Holmes and some of the ideas he had helped implement as far as building a team and a culture.

I think they had a fantastic draft.

I know Rams on Demand is not the place to discuss Detroit Lions.

I am reaching out to see if anyone knows of a good Lions forum I can kind of jump on and follow the team a bit better.

I originally found this forum through footballsfuture and I think I followed @jrry32 here. But Rams on Demand has been the best forum I have found for sharing Rams fandom with Rams fans.

Rams are my number 1 and only team but I am dug in about the Lions and the more people tell me they are just a trash franchise the more I want to dig in . . . reminiscing about all the years of Rams fandom.

I think the Lions had a solid draft as well. Hutchinson and Paschal should provide a jolt of pass-rush to their team (honestly would've taken Hutchinson number one overall if I were the Jaguars), Kerby Joseph and Chase Lucas (underrated pick) were solid additions to the secondary, Malcolm Rodriguez and James Houston actually look like solid picks in the sixth round, while James Mitchell and Williams should be a good tight end and a dominant receiver respectively, to add to St. Brown (one of the most underrated players in the NFL in his rookie year), Josh Reynolds (who probably won't be worth his deal), and potentially Chark (who is still only twenty-five, and may even get a long-term contract with the Lions if he plays well enough), along with Hockenson and Swift.

They added onto a fantastic draft in 2021; Sewell, Melifonwu, McNeill and, Onwuzurike. They have two good young corners from the past (Okudah and Oruwariye. They have the Okwara brothers. And they still have two first round picks next year to potentially package for a quarterback.

They're an up-and-coming team, and there's nothing wrong with wanting them to be successful (unless they're playing us). It's like me with the Broncos. The Broncos are my brother's team, so I follow them a bit. I'm not even close to a Broncos fan, but I look at them because of my brother.

I am curious about the Detroit Lions experiment and have been following them a little bit since last year. To be honest, I was fearful that Brad Holmes was the reason for the Rams later round round success in the draft and that we would struggle without him. I also was fascinated by longtime Stafford fans in the press at Woodward sports (Detroit) who were so exultant in Matthew's success in LA and I loved it.

Detroit seems to be a petrie dish biological experiment and we get to see what grows from the LA Rams....

Footballsfuture has a good Lions following, they may be able to direct you to other stuff for them.

The main forum has threads on the 49ers, Cardinals, and Seahawks. Why not the Lions. I find them to be interesting too. Mostly because I've always liked their uniforms, so I was a closet quasi fan. But I have a love/hate thing going on with Holmes. I like following how good GMs turn bad teams into good teams. But I also think Holmes has too good of a handle on how Snead drafts and will be looking at the same players in later rounds.

We could certainly do that. Those other teams are NFCW teams… so the connection is evident.

I am like a lot of others, with one eye on Detroit… because they are an interesting team for Rams fans. How long does that last, however? If they beat us in the Playoffs, it probably ends.. lol.

I followed the Lions as well and think they have something special brewing there. I see them winning 7-8 games this next year and think the following year they are going to do some damage if they keep heading on this trajectory. I made a post in the main Rams forum on the HC for the Lions. Love that dude, he's somebody you go to war and fight for.
