OK! No Bashing, BUT, This is the only note worthy Quote in the entire article!
12. After the loss Rams guard Rodger Saffold said his team has "the best mentality in the league." Adding: "We always come back, ready to fight. This game, there were so many reasons for us to get blown out. But we just kept fighting, kept pushing ... we're not out of anything. I love this team."

Whatever!

The way Schotty opened up the second half killed our our momentum just like it did against KC after the Davis pick. Bottom line is our defense came up big when it needed to, offense came alive when Schotty finally let the WR's run (why so late?), and Hill made the worste decision of his life.

The defense turned the corner weeks ago. Overall that unit played solid yesterday. Getting points, forcing turnovers, getting sacks, getting off the field...Rivers played well and there were a few breakdowns sure, but thats how it works. In the end the D made the plays it needed to in order to give the offense the opportunities to win the game. This is a good defense now. Rarely do even elite defenses play 60 minutes of football and not give up plays.
The Rams D will get scored on in the future. They'll miss another coverage, they'll get gashed on a run play, our guys aren't going to textbook tackle every single time from here on out...thats reality. Prepare yourself.

This is the main issue. Too many missed tackles to even count.

We better beat Oakland next week.. If we lose, may as well just tank it so we can draft Winston or something. haha.

If we got that pick I'd trade it

This was an ugly game. Both teams have the other team opportunities. Hill did not have a good game. The worst game IMHO belonged to GR. His play lead directly to a 14 point swing in the game. As I posted on another thread he plays LT at times like a future LG. hopefully he improves over the next 5 games.

Or.

San Diego is a good team with a top 5 defense who scores 22 points per game on average, and is currently 7-4 - who played against a team without their 1st string QB, DE, WR, and LT at home, and found a way to win. This Rams defense is good, but they're not an unbeatable Championship caliber defense. Yet.

The author is clearly baiting fans with comment number 13. Why on god's green earth wouldn't team officials meet and greet LA based fans? Are we lepers?

I thought the defense played poorly....I think we let teams get in a groove...I think Williams does blitz too much...I think the prevent defense sux....I think we miss too many tackles...I think Bernie was spot on....

It's really quite simple, the Defense ran into a top notch OB, their team was at home and desperate for a win, sometimes you just have to tip your hat to the other team, especially when that team features a top notch proven NFL QB. (which btw, their QB was better than ours, way better, a blind man could see that was the difference this particular game)

The dogging of Shotty is almost getting ridiculous, really makes me wonder sometimes...yeah, yeah, yeah I too was hoping for a run (didn't want to leave Rivers with any time) THE GUYS ON THE PLAYING FIELD DIDN'T EXECUTE THE PLAY, some of you guys wanna blame the OC then fine, I guess that's what beer drinking fans do. The fact is they came oh so close to pulling off a great win, just couldn't close it.

Next up the Raiders...

"9. The officiating crew was a clown show that really took something away from the joy of watching a wildly competitive game that featured many twists and turns."

This sums up the way that i feel about the NFL as a whole right now. Totally disgusted by the officials.
The SEC has better officials than the NFL does. I'm to the point of not being able to stomach watching them screw up every game!

In trying to understand why the officiating is so bad, I wonder if all of the constant rule changes are making things more difficult. Especially when you consider how many of the newer calls are judgement calls. Officiating seemed easier 20 years ago. Maybe the NFL is simply putting too much on the refs plates. All the more reason for making more/every call reviewable.

OC--LeftCoast being the lucky one:

Saying that the players didn't execute is a completely facile statement to me in that context. Exactly which plays that didn't work couldn't you say that about? While I agree with the other points you made I can't go along with this at all. Whether the play call was good or not the players still have to execute. Proper execution has absolutely nothing to do with whether it was the proper percentage play to call or not.

You're not the only one who says stuff like that but I chose you to make my reply because you used all CAPS and thus stood among the crowd. Let's not confuse the success of a play with whether it was the right play to call and yes, I realize that for some, if it was successful it was ipso facto the correct play to call. It wasn't the percentage play to call and that's what most people mean when they're talking about the "correct play."

I'm not saying that wasn't the right or wrong play to call, I'm just saying that proper execution has nothing to do with that question.

^^^ - THIS!!

As a Rams Fan only since their move to STL (STL Homeboy) I totally agree with this. I thought it was awesome how many Rams fans showed up for the game (assuming the majority were from LA!) Was not crazy about the "BACK TO LA BANNERS" but that is their right.

It would be idiotic for Rams management to not acknowledge the old LA Rams fans and show appreciation for their loyalty. One of the reasons I don't care for BM!

Missed tackles.
That's it in a nutshell. There was a thread last week that talked about the improvement in the defense. I posted the biggest improvement was in the tackling. Any scheme will look bad when they miss tackles. As well as they have played lately, Sunday was an example of poor tackling and it then makes it look like the scheme somehow is at fault.

Make the tackles at the point of attack, and we win that game. Ryan Matthews shredded them all day. And the long TD run after catch by Allen was more about missing tackles than it was about the scheme.

I believe there was more than just a little 'Ref Factor' involved in the Chargers win too!!JMO
