Today we'll start Back in the 1950's and forward.
At Jersey #48 - Don Doll: (1954)
I don't have any photos of him in uniform, But ..
Don Doll1.jpg

I wanted to include him because he came to the Rams as a Vet, a 4 time Pro-Bowl man. and while he was here, in that one year, he had 5 Int's.

Next up, Our Biggest Name of the Day, Today, MLB/K - Hall of Famer- Les Richter: (1956-62)

Richter5.jpg

les-richter-uspw200.jpg

An 8time Pro- Bowl man, It's surprising that he only played in 1 Play-Off game!

Richter4.jpg

Richter2.jpg

Few people seem to remember, aside from being, possibly, the Best MLB we ever had, he Kicked for us too, and scored a lot of points.

I'll never be able to figure out why it took until 2011 for him to get voted into the H of F !!

Here are the stats on these players, as far as I can find!

* DB - Don Doll - 1954
Don Doll1.jpg

In his one season w/ the Rams he played in 12 games and had 5 INT's for 51 Yds. w/ a long of 26 Yds.

* MLB/Kicker - Les Richter - 1956-1962
les_richter_1960_07_01.jpg

It's just a shame in his day they didn't track Tackles, Assists, and Sacks like they do today!!
Our Hall of Fame MLB went to 8 Pro Bowls in his 9 seasons with the team. In his 112 games he also did some kicking for us, having %% FGA's / 29 FGM's w/ a long of 42 Yds. that's an aver. of 52.7% and he had 109 XPA's and had 106 XPM's that's 97.2%.

* FS - Bill Simpson - 1974-1978
Simpson3.jpg

In his 5 seasons he had 22 INT's for 391 Yds. w/ a long of 42 Yds. in his 72 games. Plus he had 1 Fumble and 8 FR's for 24 Yds.

* TE - Fendi Onobun - 2010-2011
fendi-onobun1.jpg

He only played in 3 games and had 4 Targets w/ 2 Rec's for 15 Yds.

* DB/HB - Corky Taylor - 1955 & 1957
Corky_Taylor1.jpg

" I don't know why there is a gap in his playing years."
He played 2 seasons and in 12 games he had 26 rush att's for 95Yds. / a 3.7 aver. and 7 rec's for 47 Yds.

* DB - Tim Fox - 1985-1986
Tim Fox1.jpg

In his 2 seasons with the Rams he played in 20 games and had a total of 2 INT's for 8 Yds.

* RB Stephen Davis - 2006
stephen_davis1.jpg

In his 15 games he rushed 40 times for 177 Yds. / a 4.4 aver. and had 17 TGT's w/ 12 Rec's for 90 Yds. and 1 TD!

This isn't all the players from above^ but the others didn't have any recorded stats!!

Our current #48 Travin Howard is in an uphill battle for a roster spot. Best to him!

A couple of notes from past # 48's in Ram history:

DNA tests are back. Bill Simpson sadly is NOT Johnny Hekkers father...

Simpson4.jpg

and finally, a note on Don Doll. After months of Locker-room abuse he was not able to turn his career around, even after changing his name to Don Actionfigure.

I love these old time photos where the player dives or jumps for a ball, probably thrown by the photographer's assistant!

I can't tell for sure, but if that's his tongue hanging out, then Mr. Jordan wasn't the first.
