Maybe...maybe not. If it is then it's an entertaining hoax. Personally I don't know much about McGregor other than he is classless and money-driven. Mayweather on the other hand...

Mayweather was never actually in a brawling boxing match. That ended long ago before him. McGregor has been through some crap. If true McGregor would jack him up.

I have difficulty in believing any sane boxing authority would license McGregor to box against a multiple time World Champion, even if he is now retired. However money talks and this 'fight' would generate a huge amount of money.
I doubt McGregor would lay a glove on Mayweather. My money would be on McGregor being intentionally disqualified in the last round, (probably 4 or 6).

A tamed Cub vs. An untamed Lion. Mayweather would not even step foot in the same ring knowing it was going to be very serious. Now if its fixed and Mayweather feels safe then yeah he will step in there. Other then that no. Mayweather is the face of shadowboxing.

If the fight is legit there is a 1% change Connor could hang with him boxing. I will give Connor a 1% chance of landing a lucky shot.

    I know.
    It's absurd.
But nothing for Connor to lose boxing and nothing for Floyd to gain except a ton of money.

Exactly. Conor loses nothing but gains $100+ million. He doesn't care. Floyd gains 50-0 and a lot of money. What does Floyd care? He was retired anyways.

This is boxing, not UFC. McGregor has no chance. McGregor got outboxed by Nate Diaz. Floyd is one of the best defensive boxers of all time. He's a counter-puncher. McGregor trying to brawl with him will get him destroyed. Mayweather's style is designed to murder brawlers. He beats guys like Manny Pacquiao, Canelo Alvarez, Juan Manuel-Marquez, Oscar De La Hoya, Sugar Shane Mosley, Miguel Cotto, Ricky Hatton, and Arturo Gatti. Those guys are elite boxers who dedicated their lives to boxing.

Conor is none of those things. You're putting a guy who hasn't fought a real boxing match in over a decade against one of the most skilled fighters of all time. This isn't a contest. It's a stunt to enrich Floyd and McGregor.

I mean in terms of legacy.
If Connor beats beaten badly and toyed with and looks terrible, hey, it was boxing not MMA and Floyd is an all time great. His legacy isent diminished at all.
Let's say Floyd beats him up? He was supposed to, no gain. If Connor lands a shot an takes him out Floyd becomes a punch line. I see no upside for Floyd taking this fight and no downside for Connor.

There is no upside in terms of legacy, but I doubt Floyd is worried about losing. He just wants to make more money.

    Agreed.
Easy money from his mind set.
The guy never let himself get out of shape and I'm sure would train.
I think it would be a pretty boring fight. If Connor comes forward and attacks he will get picked apart. So, if he is smart he will try not to attack. If you have watched Mayweather you know he doesn't give an F about what people think. He will stick to his approach. So, rounds of neither being aggressive and Conner getting pot shorted here and there.
Or if Connor thinks he is going charge in he will be playing right into Mayweathers hands and get destroyed.
Who knows? It may entertaining but I don't think so.

Mayweather used to mix it up more and score some knockouts.
That's not who he is now.
But, in practical terms there is really no way Connor can win this fight. His only shot is landing a lucky heavy shot, unlikely unless Floyd is suddenly old.
Connor is younger and bigger than Floyd but they are boxing.
It's not like Floyd is just a guy. Or a middle of the road guy with a 24-6 record who used to be ranked. He is one of the best defensive fighters of all time.

Thing I learned a while ago....styles make fights and defense wins championships....even in boxing. This would only be interesting IF they used MMA gloves.

That wouldn't happen for a couple of reasons. Floyd has broken his hands several times. Also his D is built around his gloves as well.
It would be an interesting consession if he did it however.
Although it would speed Floyds hands up.

Agreed. Conor isn't going to win this fight by being a brawler. Floyd has fought brawlers in the past, and he destroyed them. You can't just run headlong into the action against an elite defensive boxer and counter-puncher. You'll get freaked up.

Then again, Floyd injuring himself or Conor landing a lucky shot is about the only way McGregor can win. He's not going to win on points. If it goes the distance, boxing will give it to Floyd.

Connor is left handed. His best punch is his ledt hook. Catching Flyod with a LH as a counter to a straight right would be his shot.
Even if Connor could figure out a way to be awkward for a couple of rounds could he really play angles or whatever better than pro boxers?
    Too funny.
Wait till Floyd is 50 and maybe you have a fight.
Or let's see a 60 (or whatever) year old Foreman box an MMA heavy.
    Haha. PPV sideshow.

I doubt it. Plus, isn't Pacquiao a lefty? But yea, his best chance is to go after Floyd and hope to catch him. But if Floyd wants to pound him, he will with that strategy.
