Can he be? Doubtful.

Should he get in? Yes I think he's earned it.

Lack of team success will hurt his chances badly.

I disagree. I consider George an elite back. I put Jackson as just a good back

Jackson is comparable, or better, in every category. YPC, TD, Yards per reception, receiving TDs, and George was on a better team. George fumbled twice as much.

If George is elite, why not Jackson?

I don't think he should get in. But I blame the OL's he played behind more than SJ. It's kinda sad too because every other great RB for the Rams was blessed with great OL. SJ picked the worst possible era to join the Rams.

It's funny. If he was on a playoff caliber team, he'd be a lock with those stats. Stats that meet or exceed what Earl Campbell was able to do, and he's in the hall. I mean, if Floyd Little can get into the Hall, then Steven Jackson's achievements should get him in as well. Especially considering he has the 16th most career rushing yards in the history of the league.

Of course he "can"

Unfortunately for him, he never got a lot of exposure playing for a perennial losing team, combine that with a relatively small market... he has an uphill battle to say the least.

I would guess talent wise he would easily fit into the top 20 All Time NFL running backs.

Steven Jackson has the 16th most rushing yards ever.

He currently has the most of all active running backs. More than Gore, who is second.
He needs 2 more good years (+1200 yards) and a playoff run

Well, sure. that would move him to 5th most yards of all NFL backs ever. More than these guys:

5 LaDainian Tomlinson San Diego Chargers (2001–2009)
New York Jets (2010–2011) 3,174 13,684 4.3 Eligible in 2017[4]
6 Jerome Bettis Los Angeles Rams (1993–1995[5])

Idk. He has done incredible things, but never quite got the recognition he deserved because he played on bad teams. Especially behind bad lines. That alone should put him in the conversation. However with no playoff run, I doubt it,.

Agreed. IMO, if he'd been drafted by the Cheatriots, he'd be almost a certain lock. If he'd have played on the Cowboys teams that Emmit was part of, he'd probably be considered in the All-Time Top 10. If, by contrast, Emmit would have played for the Rams during the stretch that SJ39 was part of, he'd be considered a 'good' back at best.

But....it is what it is. And all things considered, I doubt he'll get in.
