Bruce Irvin clears waivers, becomes free agent Bruce Irvin is now a free agent.

A few days after being waived by the Oakland Raiders, the defensive end cleared waivers, NFL Network's Tom Pelissero reported, via a source informed.

Irvin had seen his playing time decrease in recent weeks and saw little action in Oakland's blowout loss to the San Francisco 49ers on Thursday night. The 31-year-old defensive end played just nine defensive snaps and zero special teams snaps in the defeat.

The pass rusher has three sacks, four QB hits and one forced fumble on the season.

Irvin could be a boon to a contender in need of pass-rushing help. Already one of his former teammates is on the lookout.

Meh, not really. Fowler has already shown more in one game than anything I've seen from Irvin in years. Irvin has never really been a great pass rusher stat wise. Had a couple ok years I guess but I like Fowler better and would like to give Obo a shot at this juncture. Plus, he's a gigantic dick and I don't like him so there's that. We don't need that ex-Seahawk filth on our team.

I'd kick the tires on him and see what he can bring to our defense. Okoronkwo has just been activated and hasn't played a snap or had much practice time at all this year. With Fowler on one side Irvin might be able to bring some heat on the other. We need all the edge pass rushers we can muster at this point and Bruce Irvin is a cost-controlled possibility.
Let's see what he can do.......

Personally wouldn't mind him for a vet minimum 1 year deal. Never hurts to have some extra depth in case, knock on wood, Fowler or one of the other guys gets hurt
