Bernie on why Fisher won't consider Martz for OC. I got a few chuckles.

Like him or not, I got a laugh and a few chuckles out of this. Especially everyone who use to maon and groan about Martz wasting a TO or taking a not so smart challenge and losing a TO.

I think he would be honestly! Which is why I'm sure Fisher's ego would allow this hire to happen TBH. Thanks for the audio Dags

p.s. I loved Martz but it would piss me off when he burned TO's!!

If Mad Mike came aboard the U.S.S. Horns, he would not be the one deciding whether to burn TO's or not---the would be The Fisher King's task.

true that... Maybe we should send a second frequency into our QB's helmet to so we don't need to burn TO's!

How about offensive quality control or whatever that is?
haha Every play would be a 10 yard + route with 12 runs a game to keep them honest! ;)

It's the carelessness with the ball. Turnovers via taking chances aggressively. I think that would be the element that would turn Fisher off the most. Ironically that's what hurt this offense the most last season(turnovers and the opposition getting points directly from those turnovers).

I do think Matrz's larger than life aura played a part in why Vermeil decided to quit because he knew it was give him the job or lose him, but IMO SK's still strong ties to Shaw plays the biggest role and may be a big part in why the team eventually moves.

What hurt this team the most is the defense where the Most high round draft choices have been expended didn't come to play the first five games and flatly didn't give the offense the support to keep leads.
Give the Seattle defense those leads they'd smother you

I disagree that the defenses slow start was ultimately what was the most glaring problem. Taking care of the ball is something everyone knows is important, but IMO the results of turnovers is the real key to success.
Net turnover points statistic measures the points a team generates off of takeaways including interceptions and fumbles less the points its opponents have generated off of interceptions thrown and fumbles lost.

Teams with high net turnover points are those who take advantage of turnovers by scoring points and preventing opponents from putting up points when turning over the ball.

Team Net turnover Points
http://www.sportingcharts.com/nfl/stats/team-net-turnover-points-statistics/2014/

At -23 the Rams were 5th worst in the league right above Tennessee(picking 2nd overall), Tampa Bay(picking 1st overall), NYJ(picking 6th overall), Washington(picking 5th overall) and Oakland(picking 4th overall). Oakland finished at -77.
Those are four of the worst teams in the NFL and that is indisputable. I also think it's safe to say that the Rams are a far better team than any of these teams(we beat three of them and New York and Tennessee are a mess).
Green Bay, New England and Seattle were among the top 5 in Net turnover points. 67, 61 and 47 respectively.

The Rams opponents in 2014 reaped a total 102 points directly from INT's thrown and fumbles lost. That's 3rd worst in the NFL. There's no way in Hell to survive, prosper and win games like that, no matter how good or bad your offense and defense performed individually at different points during the season.

BTW, the top 5 teams best teams in turnover points given away...
Seattle, Green Bay, New England, Arizona and Kansas City.

Seattle only gave up 38 points directly off turnovers all season. Thirty-eight points they surrendered from their own 14 giveaways. Lol that's insanely good. Meanwhile they converted their forced turnovers into 85 points.

Again, the Rams? We gave up 102 points to the opponents and converted our forced turnovers into 79 points(not too bad actually, good for 14th best).

Yeah Kurt used to say Martz wasn't too worried about turnovers because he believed they could score on the next drive. That being aggressive and taking chances led to more points and minimized the damage turnovers could create.

The problem this season is the offense couldn't score alot of points and quickly to offset the turnovers. Especially later in the season. Turnovers in a Jeff Fisher plodding offense team are game killers.

Maybe if Martz became oc they wouldn't hurt the team as much.

Six of seven of our front seven draft choices in the first and second rounds not producing a sack didn't hurt this team as bad as a FA QB?

And where did those teams rank defensively?

Fishers plan is a dominant defense to protect his offense and FWIW easily half the differential was from the defense allowing scores after the turnovers, a third was from trying to recover from deficits yielded by the defense in catch up mode ,

Martz has some issues for sure, I'm not sure I'd go for him in this offense, but he would get a lot out of Tavon no doubt.
