This story just doesn't end! Looks like the law states that since he committed suicide during the appeals process and can't defend himself the convictions get dropped. Which means the NFL may owe his family a pension and the Patriots may owe them millions from his contract that was withheld because of the convictions. I'm sure it'll be a legal battle either way.

If that is why he killed himself then props to him for trying to do something good for his family and most of all his daughter. It would be one of the few decent things he's done with his life.

I don't see this playing out that way honestly. He has an illegal gun charge from 5 years ago which most likely nullified his contact with the Patriots. I don't think his daughter will end up getting much if any at all. Not to mention the thousands of dollars in lawyer fees he probably owes.

I think this helps explain why he was so emotional after his recent acquittal in the double murder case. Once that hurdle was cleared, committing suicide while in appeal for his current conviction was possible.

He actually planned this.

Nearly 6 million in guaranteed $'s back in play for his family/estate. Wow. If ever somebody tried to right a wrong on the way out this was it.

Too bad I hate the Patriots, or I might feel a tad bad for them. I hope they pay.

He was still convicted of murder in the other case am I wrong? How would that not void his deal? By the way I'm not hoping his family doesn't get money bc the league has plenty of it im just curious.

*edit: ah I see it's talking about the appeal process.

Two words: civil court.
The Odin family will get a piece of the Aaron Hernandez estate similar to Brown family v OJ Simpson. Doubtful the daughter will see much of that cash. Too bad he had to ruin her life selfishly and another child grows up without a father. Not cool.

So would this put the Patriots over the salary cap?

Not really serious, but curious

It's really fucked up that the single best thing he may have done with his worthless life is to end it. It's ironic and funny........

To be fair, neither should the Patriots. But I see both sides of the coin.

They won't pay, there is no reason to how can a dead guy cash the check.

I'd be surprised if he doesn't have several MIL somewhere and his house is valuable too so hopefully she will be OK.

Wow. If ever somebody tried to right a wrong on the way out this was it.

This isn't even close to righting a wrong........not even on the same planet. Even leaving all of his money to Odin Lloyd's family wouldn't right this.

I don't think anyone got a nickel out of OJ other than the attorneys........or am I wrong. I know they won the civil suit but that doesn't get money from the party that lost it.

I thought the amount was undisclosed. I'm guessing your the attorney Les, so do they seal the case and amounts to prevent public disclosure and/or not to set a precedent for future suits?

Don't forget Hernandez's gay lover. Now he'll be taken care of too.

You just can't make this stuff up.

They got a verdict for a large sum but it's a civil case which has far less "teeth". But I don't think anything was ever paid, I don't recall ever hearing that he wrote a check and I would imagine that would be HUGE news. I'm guessing nobody got anything out of him.

I'm not an attorney by the way. Neither is @jrry32 he is actually a pimp based on the pic of the car he drives. :)

Simpson has his money protected somehow in a kind of trust, I'm not sure exactly what but I remember reading about it after he was found scouring golf courses for the real killer as he promised he would find him. I guess maybe the real culprit was a tee starter or something. I dunno.

I think they got some money, but nowhere near the $33.5 million they won.

.

A story doing the rounds now is gangsta life killed Lloyd because he didn't want him to spill the beans about his bisexuality to his fiance. It seems gangsta was fucking his male high school sweetheart since high-school and Lloyd was giving him shit about it. I guess gangsta thought it was only a matter of time before Lloyd opened his mouth in front of his girlfriend so he put a few bullets in him.
