With one of their veteran interior offensive linemen ailing, the Bears have bolstered their depth upfront, announcing the signing of center/guard Rob Turner on Sunday night.

Turner (6-4, 308) played for the Titans in 2013, starting the first six games at center before landing on injured reserve with a shoulder injury. The previous season, Turner started all 16 games for the Rams, seeing time at center and left guard.

Turner’s signing comes after center/guard Brian de la Puente suffered an MCL sprain in Friday’s exhibition game vs. Philadelphia. According to ESPN Chicago’s Jeff Dickerson, de la Puente could be sidelined for a few weeks, a timetable that figures to keep him out for at least one preseason contest, if not more.

To make room for Turner on the roster, the Bears waived guard Graham Pocic.

Good on Turner. Hope he has a good year - always thought he was a good trooper for us, and one of our better OL in a tough year.

Ahhh Yes the good old Turner & Pocic days

I thought Turner did a good job as a "swing" interior lineman. He stepped up when we had injuries to our center and guard in 2012. Fortunately we're now at the point where we don't need him, but I would have liked to have him last year

Nice, Turner is really good depth. Showed he can play from what he did in our 2012 season.

At least not ALL of Sam's former o'linemen are out of a job. Only 12 of 20 or so, now. Was 13.
