Does anyone think it's improbable that Austin could get 5 catches a game? Be them bubble screens, pitches, screens, curls, etc? I think that's a nice little target number for him - 5 catches a game. So let's say that he does. Over the course of 16 games, that's 80 catches for probably close to a thousand yards. Maybe 900. That's only like 56 yards per game.

Fisher didn't move up 8 spots to give this kid 40 catches. They're going to work him into the offense any way they can.

I don't think that 5 catches a game is out of the question, but with the extra talent, I think Bradford will spread the ball around a little more.

He'll probably hit 6 or 7 different receivers a game, but someone needs to be his safety valve again, and that's shaping up to be Tavon. Givens, Cook, Kendricks and Pettis/Quick will probably all end up with 40-60 catches each - or somewhere in that neighborhood. Deep pattern runners and seam busters won't (IMO) see as many targets as the lil guy will.

I hope you're right because I think Austin will really know what to do with the ball when he gets it. However I'm not so sure that the TEs, either one of them, won't be his safety valve. IMO Sam has trouble with the touch passes and I think he'll be a lot more comfortable throwing to a tall target like Cook. Either one would be effective but I'm hoping he doesn't look for a particular safety valve and just takes what's given.

I don't think it's unreasonable for Austin to avg 5 catches a game. I think he'll be one of the more dependable pass-catchers on the team and will find space like he always does. Austin will be Bradford's safety valve just like Amendola, but with a better games-per-season average.

I agree they didn't move up to put training wheels on him, he should get a lot of targets so what your saying is within the realm of possibilities. But the real contribution from him will be touchdowns.

What's your guess for trips to the end zone.

It's a bet. 10 you win, other than ten you lose.

They're gonna feed him till the other team takes him away. When they try to limit him that opens it up for rest of the offense. That's pretty much going to be the plan or it should be. He doesn't have to have the ball in his hands to be a weapon.
If a defense don't go all prevent Austin maybe 12-15 touches, maybe more depending on how effective the handoffs are.
It's going to take a CB and safety to try and slow him down. So either they play nickel full time or single cover everyone else. Givens will have 1 man to beat deep if the keep a S on Cook. If not Cook will just eat up a LB.

Win Win.

Calling Austin an impact rookie is about as obvious as saying the sky is blue. Of course he is destined to be an impact rookie.

My only hope is that we arent talking about his lack of impact after 8 weeks.

More likely the media will be talking about why he wasn't a top 3 pick in the draft.
