I hope not. Don't the Rams play the 'Aints again this year? Hoped he would fit with a better team. The Saints are reloading. They need some defense in the draft.

Not sure I see why the Saints are going that direction but what do I know. Could work out for them I guess or could be a really sad site seeing the end of two greats in Brees and AP wallow on a bad team.

Makes sense to me. Obviously they need to get even older at the skill positions.

Adrian Peterson to Saints doesn’t make much sense, for Peterson

It’s obvious why the Saints would want Adrian Peterson. It’s not obvious why Adrian Peterson would want the Saints. Unless, of course, no one else wants Peterson.

But even if no other team currently is offering Peterson $3 million or so per year, his likely role (Mark Ingram reportedly would still be the lead back) and the perceived ability of the team to help Peterson finish his career with a Super Bowl win (the Saints have three straight 7-9 seasons in a division that produced the last two NFC champions) suggests that Peterson’s better move would be to watch and to wait. Injuries are inevitable, especially at the tailback position.

If a short-list contender loses its starting running back for an extended stretch (like the Vikings did last year in Week Two when Peterson tore a meniscus), Peterson instantly has leverage along with an opportunity to become a key contributor for a team that could be playing in February.

But it’s possible that the Saints have put the hard sell on Peterson, with coach Asshole Face and quarterback Drew Brees persuading Peterson that the Saints may be ready to party like it’s 2009, the season that saw New Orleans take down Peterson and the Vikings en route to a Super Bowl victory.

Regardless, the decision seems a little hasty from Peterson’s perspective. While that could be end up being very good for the Saints, it could end up being a mistake for the player.

Or, with the bevy of RBs that can contribute right away in the draft, AP didn't want to sit at home with no future until August only to have to hastily learn a new offense.

I'm not saying that being available late isn't sometimes a good position to be in, but to be a 32 yo RB coming off of an injury, no matter how good, isn't a great place to be.

If he has a monster year, you can bet interest in him will be right there. If not, he was secure for a decent paycheck for a year.

I mean, if he's had a "Todd Gurley" year where his lack of production was more a function of a historically bad offense, poor OL play and horrifically bad play calling, but he was basically healthy (no RB who plays is totally healthy by the end of the season...), then it would be totally different.

Plus, even if he doesn't win that ring, it could be that just for ONCE, he wants to play with an amazing QB. Just to see what it's like.

Honestly, if AP is close to form, he's a major upgrade over Ingram and I expect that he'll be taking tons of reps from him if that's so.

Asshole Face with a RB the caliber of AP presuming he's AP again as well as still having Drew Brees who shows no sign of slowing down.... makes me think the Saints could be really, really good on O.

Somehow I think Peyton will find a way to make this work. Offense hasn't been their issue anyway - but I wouldn't be shocked at all to see the Saints in the playoffs.

IMO this team is slowly headed in the wrong direction...until the hole is too deep to climb out of.

AP clearly just going for whoever offers him the most $$$$. Guess he doesnt care all that much about a SB ring.

I think they are already there. Defense weak still. Offense declining every year. Once Brees is gone this team is gonna be picking early for a while. Payton will be gone soon as well once the losing gets worse.

Its a shame too. He isnt gonna get a lot regardless, might as well go for a ring and a few million less. Unless he is close to broke already, IDK.

Look at Florio showing off his keen sense of the obvious yet again!!!

Yeah because foolishly they're still in WIN NOW mode.

Good point..........I'd be making moves for the future and I would even ask Brees if he would like to go play in Houston........I bet they would give up a LOT. So would Denver.

All of these guys want to get paid until they cannot play or get paid anymore. It's the money.

Nobody would have faulted him for pulling a Chris Long
Agree 100%, thought thats what he was gonna do. Going after another mil instead of a ring...well..thats just kind of a bad way to end a career for someone like him.

Yeah it doesnt make alot of sense. He has made good money over his career so I figured he would take less to go to a contender. Maybe he is broke from all the kids he has lol.

Should have made that move about 2 years ago. Could've grabbed a King's ransom and started a proper rebuild.
