My 2'd year my roster was auto drafted and I won the whole thing. I don't know what the big deal is.
Most rosters get turned over during the season anyway. And also, it's not for money just fun.
I've always been able to use a PC for the draft and was totally frustrated myself at times, picked a couple players I didn't mean to. Like rhody says, it is what it is.
Thanks again for setting it up Pa

pretty sure Yahoo picked my championship team last year also, but like DB says, pretty much the whole roster gets turned over at least once thru the long season...hell we still have 20 weeks to go yet

@Memento I suggest you give the league a shot anyway...if its your first time, then as the saying goes, you have to learn to walk before you can run

No. Not when some of the people there were laughing at me because I was new and didn't know what to do. If it was just the team, I'd try to suck it up and play. It was the fact that nobody helped and that some people tried to - and succeeded in - humiliate and embarrass me when I was begging someone - anyone - to help me out with this. For almost three minutes, they let me flounder and laughed at me. That's what gets me. Why would any newbie want to participate in a league that declares open season on new members?

I've been through forums like that. I've been through schools like that. I've been through jobs like that. Can you blame me for not wanting to go through it again in a place that's supposed to be fun?

I'm sorry. I know that the people here were trying to help me out, and I appreciate that. It's just that some others ruined it all.

I apologize. I had no idea (probably because I was clicking on players and finding them in my quere and then finding others in "draft this player") and that's my fault. I like to think I draft better than autodraft but it's about 50/50. Anyway, I thought you had played Yahoo fantasy baseball before. I sincerely apologize for whatever happened in the harassment department. My approach would be to whoop their arses, especially with the team you have. But it's your choice. I'd like you to reconsider....Boston, Dieter, Rhody, Howski and I have all played in the same league before and it's a lot of fun. Sorry for the other 6 guys who joined publicly (that was my idea to fill out the league).

Again, I'm not interested in money. I'm interested in having fun. And there is no fun in watching helplessly as a worthless AI drafts for you without your input and seeing people laugh at you because you don't know how to draft your own players because nobody bothered to tell you when you asked multiple times.

There's nothing fun about that.
Well if you're this worked up over it then it's probably better off you don't play. The draft is a pita for a lot of folks but the fun starts when you manage your team.
Ironically it seems you figured out how to use some features that I didn't know existed. I have no idea how to ask questions or even see what conversations were going on. In any event I certainly wouldn't give a flying fluck about what some idiot stranger on the website said.
Your team looks pretty good actually. Oh well.

Hey @PARAM .... only 5 moves allowed this week? I thought we would get more for after the draft?

Done. I put it up to 8.

And FWIW, I filled the 3 DL spots and added Kelvin Herrerra to "Giants can suck It" team. I'm trying to keep the team competitive until somebody takes it over. There are two roster spots to fill and I don't want to fill them until everybody has made their post draft moves.

AND BTW, anybody interested in taking over a team with a killer roster????

Wikipedia definition

A hold (abbreviated HLD, H or HD) is awarded to a relief pitcher who meets the following three conditions:

1. Enters the game in a save situation; that is, when all of the following three conditions apply:
(a) He appears in relief (i.e., is not the starting pitcher); and
(b) He is not the winning pitcher; and
(c) He qualifies under one of the following conditions:
(i) He enters the game with a lead of no more than three runs and maintains that lead for at least one inning
(ii) He enters the game, regardless of the count, with the potential tying run either on base, or at bat, or on deck
(iii) He pitches effectively for at least three innings.
2. Records at least one out
3. Leaves the game before it has ended without his team having relinquished the lead at any point and does not record a save.
The hold is not an official Major League Baseball statistic.[1]

Seems like a silly category to count.

On the contrary. With just saves, a guy could line up 12 or 13 starters and 1 reliever. Win the K's and QS categories going away while getting lucky every now and then with the save category. With holds counting, now there are two categories relievers can score in (not including K's/9) balancing out W's and QS's with the starters. It practically forces a manager to carry 3 or 4 relievers, therefore preventing a run on K's and QS's . It brings the 8th inning/set-up guys into play. I thought it was a nice twist.

It's a nice twist if you have a dellin betances.
I think it's a dumb variable as the opportunities will be so low that winning that category is just dumb luck.
To each their own.

To each their own.

Last year the top 7 closers averaged 45 saves. They had a total of 13 wins among them. The top 7 relievers in holds last year averaged 30. They had a total of 37 wins. Opportunities are there almost as much as save opportunities as the ideal plan for using a bullpen is starter goes 7. 8th inning guy comes in and then the closer for the ninth. Those 8th inning guys come in quite often in a tie game so they will also get wins. It's a different category and I figured it would put more emphasis on the relievers than we're accustomed. There are plenty of "set up" men in MLB. Hell, that's where Mo caught people's eye.

It's dumb.
It's not even an official stat.
But you make the rules and built your team accordingly
I get it.

On a side note, did yahoo change up the available players? Why does it show tomorrow's pitchers available and not today's? Is there a filter option I'm missing?

I'm sorry you feel that way. They've been keeping track of "holds".....the "official" MLB site has been putting an "H" in the box score for some time now. Using it as a scoring catagory, I figured it was a way to make roster building a bit more difficult than 14 or 13 starting pitchers and 2 or 3 closers. And I'm equally sorry you were either unaware of the stat or unaware holds were a scoring category or both. I listed the scoring catagories when I asked for managers. I can remove it and put another pitching category in there. But I can assure you, I didn't put it in there so "I" could build my roster to take advantage. I don't know if that's what you were inferring but it certainly sounded that way.

Holds arent an official stat. Its dumb. For it to be worth the same as wins or Hr's where people actually do research is equally dumb.
Look at the results from the league 5 or 6 teams had 1 or less "hold"
Whatever, it is what it is. I'll look up the leader for "holds", oh wait, its not tracked so you cant...

Did we find an owner yet for the team that the owner bailed? And can we switch the pitchers like it has been the last 3 seasons?
