Color code

Black = bust

Hits:

Purple = contributor, depth (Bannan, Gary Gibson types)
Blue = hits (starter; Fred Robbins in 2010, or better)

YEAR... ROUND... PICK.... PLAYER
1995 5 159 Gary Walker
1998 4 107 Joe Salave'a
1999 2 52 John Thornton
2002 1 15 Albert Haynesworth
2003 4 126 Rien Long
2004 3 71 Randy Starks
2004 7 230 Jared Clauss
2006 5 169 Jesse Mahelona
2007 5 152 Antonio Johnson (but with Indianapolis)
2008 2 54 Jason Jones

Note:

They drafted 10 with a 60% hit rate. 70% if you count Antonio Johnson (2007).

The ones drafted 3rd round or better? 4, all hits--100%.

That means that they have a 50% hit rate on picks after round 3. (Ie. 3 of 6)

No real league-wide stars, and one real headcase (Haynesworth), but lots of solid production that fit what they want to do. EG. in 2000 they had the league's #1 ranked defense with Thornton and Jason Fisk at DT.

There are a couple of ways to divide that up:

Rounds 1-3 100%
Rounds 4-7 50%

If you want to do it a different way:

Rounds 1-4 85.7%
Rounds 5-7 50%

Bucky

zn, move Randy Starks to the "hit" column for Fisher drafts of DT's

He played well enough with the Titans to be signed by Miami in 2008 to a 5 year, 21 million dollar contract with 7 million guaranteed. He has started the last three years as a DE in a 3-4 (opposite Langford) and has been rated by Pro Football Focus as among the top ten 3-4 DE's every year, even making the Pro Bowl in 2010.
