alright fellas. let us discuss Amazon Prime and it's 2 Day shipping feature. i apologize in advance for my rant.

for those of you who don't use, haven't used or refuse to use Amazon Prime, as part of your benefits, you get free 2 day shipping on Prime Eligible items.

when you're viewing an item that's Prime Eligible, it displays a ticker that says if you order within the next xxx hours, xxx minutes, xxx seconds, you'll get your item on xxx day with your Prime Subscription. this is a GUARANTEED date of delivery. it even says so before you click "Place Order" to finalize your order.

sounds pretty straight forward right? well, it isn't. i've just contacted Amazon regarding this so-called Guarantee and their failure to come through. this isn't the first time either. to sum up the first experience, Amazon's customer service basically said "tough shit. let us know if you get it tomorrow."

i wasn't about to let them off the hook this time. i called, explained to them what my understanding of a "guarantee" was and how i had met my obligations as a customer by ordering by xxx time. now, it's 7:50 at the time i'm writing this post and they guaranteed the package to be here by 8:00. this was their argument. my package still had 20 minutes (at the time of the call) to be delivered and they can't do a damn thing to help me until after then. my package is approximately 500 miles away....unless they have some sort of teleportation i'm unaware of, it isn't getting here today. they then said it was an expected date which i had to correct them on. then when all else failed they argued that when it leaves their warehouse with the carrier, they can't account for "unforeseen circumstances."

after talking to the rep for 10 minutes about this, she basically says "i'll give you a free month of prime when the system allows me. i'll send you an e-mail when i do." so, i basically get a free month of a service i'm already paying for (if she actually follows-up) but i don't get my daughter's birthday package on time. this is such horseshit.

Maybe you just got a douche rep today bro?

Always gotten my prime packages within two days and had good experiences with their customer service.

I have never had a problem with delivery... Some packages actually came the next day, not 2 days later

Good luck and hope you get it resolved in your favor. Try calling back again

the first rep i got (on the order where he basically told me to shove it) was a douchebag.
i couldn't even understand him and i highly doubt he understood what i was trying to convey.
this one was actually really polite but i honestly think she didn't have the authorization or power to offer me anything but free prime.

i'm about to call again, this won't go unresolved.
it's even more frustrating that i'm missing this exciting Steelers and Pats game.

I've always had good luck with prime. Every so often it's a day late. But more often a day early.
After I take off the cost of prime I still save about 600$ a year on shipping.
I do buy lots from amazon. And what I like is i can order a little 3 dollar item and shipping is still free. No bundles to get free shipping as with other places.

I've complained before, but the problem lies with the carrier...not with Amazon. I've never had a problem with UPS, but Fedex gives me fits. (It's normally due to UPS having a key to my building to leave packages inside, whereas Fedex does not.) I've told them that maybe they should implement a preference for carriers when buying from Amazon, but I realize this isn't always possible for the third party sellers.

When you check the tracking on the carrier site, see if it matches with Amazon. If it doesn't, it's most likely the carriers fault. I've had multiple reps that call the carrier for me to confirm delivery dates on things that I need to receive (fedex). They've really been accomodating thus far.

Sorry for your bad luck. I always talk up Amazon, because they really do have great customer service. I would just be courteous when calling, rather than being forceful. If they don't budge first, then you can apply some force as a customer of guaranteed shipping to be credited.

We've been on Amazon prime for almost 5-years now, starting when it originally came out. Basically all of the staples for our 2 children have come thru AMZN Prime, so we've spent thousands. Quite frankly, we've only had a few of problems. And in all of those cases, their CustSrv people went above the call of duty to make us happy. In one case, I ordered the wrong case of diapers, it was my fault... like $90 worth.... and they just sent me a new/correct case free of charge (and I couldnt' send the old case back because I'd opend it). I didn't even have to argue, they just offered. So, for us, it's been one of the best company service providers we've ever experienced.

My only beef with amazon prime is that I wish you could exclude certain carriers. Our rural mail carrier won't deliver big packages to my door. I live out in the country and work for a living. So I have a hard time making it to the post office during business hours. Fedex and ups do fine. Usps sux rope.

The only time I have experienced issues with Amazon is when the carrier messes up. I've been a Prime member for 2 years maybe more and the representatives have always been eager and willing to make up for these issues even if it isn't their fault. Of the carriers, UPS is my least favorite. I've had items show up late or them not deliver items even though I have esigned to leave it at the door. They've even left a package at the door without my consent. I'm a little understanding when the weather is bad but if the USPS delivers, I expect UPS, DHL, FEDEX, etc to deliver as well.

I don't think I've ever not had UPS when it's a prime order. I've had Fedex and the. Shitty USPS when it wasn't, but can't think of a time when it wasn't.

Must have good luck.

I've been on Amazon, and it works like a charm. My fake spotted dumb cane plant got there a day ahead of schedule, and my fake fern was right on time.

It might be the carrier, but Amazon is amazing. There's a reason why all of my books are going online on that site.

Never had issues with Amazon from a two-day shipping standpoint. My orders always came by mail two days after purchase, sometimes even earlier. But then again, I live in Long Beach and goods tend to get shipped faster here.

Also this, Amazon's inventory ships from 3rd party sellers sometimes (read the labels) and once in awhile, they aren't consistent with their date.

I've had Amazon Prime for 9+ years - and while I won't say it's never been late it's been very rare - and usually early. Heck, occasionally they'll offer me a digital credit if I will wait a few extra days - if I'm not in a hurry I'll take it, and they always have delivered earlier than promised in those cases, while I still get a buck or two towards mp3s.

I've only had two problems with Amazon orders over the years - and in each case the problem was resolved with one contact with them. Once the carrier shipped my order of a new release book in some weird circuitous route - Amazon overnighted the book to me when they found out. The other a 3rd party seller shipped me used defective merchandise, and I got a credit back to my card within 24 hours of emailing Amazon on it.

I'm sure some people have problems with them, I can honestly say the customer service I've had with Amazon is the best I've ever experienced, and I've been a regular customer of theirs since they were only selling books.
