ST. LOUIS — The Cowboys’ defense created three takeaways and had a pivotal fourth-down stop in the third quarter. But Dallas failed to sack rookie quarterback Austin Davis and that bothered Rod Marinelli.

“We have to coach them better,” the defensive coordinator said after the game. “They’ve got to rush better. No excuses. Just not getting it done.”
The Cowboys entered Sunday with three sacks, and twenty teams had more. Safety Barry Church said Davis, who was hit six times, was able to avert pressure Sunday by delivering the ball quickly.

“I felt like he was dinking and dunking us early, getting the ball out fast so it didn’t really give us a good chance to get a lot of rush on him,” Church said. “But I felt like he was able to step back there and hold the ball for a little bit, the rush was able to get to him and kind of get him off target. He’s a great young quarterback and he will be playing a long time in this league. “

Apparently Mr Church doesn't know that Davis' s arm is too weak to make it in NFL. (Blue font)
