If you're wondering when the 2014 NFL schedule will be released, it looks like you can circle April 22 on your calendar. According to Pro Football Talk, that's when the schedule will drop.

Now, if you're actually going to circle April 22 on your calendar, please make sure to do it in pencil because the date could be moved to April 23 or April 24, according to PFT. Whether the schedule is released on April 22, 23 or 24, it will be the latest date the schedule has been released in over a decade.

Since 2007, the schedule has been released sometime between April 11 and April 20.

In five of the past seven years, the schedule has been released on a Tuesday (2008-12). In the two years where the schedule wasn't released on a Tuesday, it was released on a Thursday (2013) and a Wednesday (2007).

Although the 256-game regular season schedule isn't out yet, we do know a few things. We know which teams will be playing in London and we know the Seahawks will be hosting the NFL opener on Sept. 4.

We also know that the 49ers won't be hosting any Monday or Thursday games in 2014 due to the traffic conditions around the team's new stadium during rush hour. The 49ers could still conceivably host a Thanksgiving game though as that wouldn't be affected by rush hour traffic.

It's also unlikely that the Vikings will host any Monday or Thursday games due to an agreement the team has with the University of Minnesota.

We don't know who the Rams will be playing, but if you know or you're good at guessing NFL schedules, you can win $100,000 by guessing St. Louis' entire 2014 schedule.

Anyway, here's what we do know:

Week 1 on Sept. 4: TBA at Seattle (Here's a list of teams the Seahawks could play)

Week 4 on Sept. 28: Dolphins at Raiders in London, 1 p.m. ET

Week 8 on Oct. 26: Lions at Falcons in London, 9:30 a.m. ET

Week 10 on Nov. 9: Cowboys at Jaguars in London, 1 p.m. ET

Week 13 (Thanksgiving Day): AFC at Lions, NFC at Cowboys

The Week 8 game between the Falcons and Lions will be the earliest Eastern Time Zone kickoff time in NFL history. It's also worth keeping in mind that all of the teams playing in London will have a bye the following week, meaning the Lions and Falcons will have a Week 9 bye.

We also know the 2014 opponents for all 32 NFL teams, which you can see here.

We'll have to wait until April 22 to find out everything else.

To hold you over until then, here's some schedule release facts: The last time the schedule wasn't released in mid-April was in 2006, when the schedule came out on April 6. The last time the schedule was released in a month other than April was in 2002, when it was released on March 28.

Now they're pissing me off. I had the 17th circled on my calendar because that was the last date I read. I'm trying to plan a trip out to FL for the Tampa game. Maybe I need to ask KD when that game is going to be.

What they should do is release it one week at a time!

Play week 1 then at half time of the Monday nighter you force all fans to stay up like we used to do when Howard was the man and doing the highlights "back in the day" but now you have a mini show announcing the next weeks games!!

('m ducking now!)

The fucking whiners can't host any Monday or Thursday night games in their new shit hole stadium because of rush hour traffic.

I wish the link stating who the seahags can open the season against worked. I would love for it to be us! Nothing would be a better start to the season than kicking their arse up there! It would also mean we don't end next season in SEA...again.

It has to be Super Bowl rematch vs Broncos.

I was not aware of that. I knew the Super Bowl winner hosted but I did not know it had to be a rematch. Thanks!

As well you should.:D

And I would have never thought I'd EVER miss Howard. I think he'd be a significant upgrade over the current "players".

That's what I heard as well. I don't recall it being the case every year but maybe I just didn't pay that much attention.

no, no no. It is rare that the two SB teams play each other in regular season the following year but I do believe the one or two times it happened prior they DID play in the kickoff game week 1.

It's not mandated though.

Please let it be so. I'd love to see Denver give Seattle a payback beat down in week 1.

Ahhh, that makes much more sense. I wasn't sure how they would manage a rematch every year given the scheduling requirements for the inter-divisional games.

Here's the link of possible opponents that the Seahawks will host in 2014 -- as the article points out, the most likely opponents would be the Broncos, 49ers, and Packers (Fail Mary's revenge would be a good prime time affair).
