2012 strength of schedule

Can someone please expain where the NFL schedule makers find the logic to give teams like the Rams, Browns and Panthers very tough schedules and a much lighter one to the Patriots, Packers, 49ers, Falcons? Food for thought :nono:

We had better win some early next year to get a bit of confidence rolling.

Just the way they seed things. It's equal, and the rotation is the same, but it never looks like it when it comes out. The Patriots get their own division (obviously), the NFC West and the AFC South next year. Then, in addition to that, they get the top seeded teams from the AFC West and the AFC North.

Anyway, their schedule could be a bitch if things work out according to plan for the teams they face.

Patriots schedule:
Home games: 49ers, Bills, Cardinals, Colts, Dolphins, Jets, Texans, Broncos.
Away games: Bills, Dolphins, Jaguars, Jets, Rams, Seahawks, Titans, Ravens

I don't think its right the Rams had...

Philly, NYG, Baltimore, Green Bay, Dallas, New Orleans all in a row, with only Washington being the lone "easy game."

Some things just don't factor in April, like you would've thunk the Bengals would've been so good, and a team like the 10-6 Bucs would've stunk it up and got the 49ers on the road?

How often do a team like the Packers and Saints end up the 2nd place team in their division?? How lucky did Seattle get to play the 1st team Chicago Bears w/o their 2 best players?

It's not fair, but its the luck of the draw.

Quite often, as no team has won the NFC South in consecutive seasons.

No I mean that the Saints are so good but b/c the Falcons went 13-3, how often does that happen? Usually the 2nd place team is 9-7 or 8-8 and is just average to above average.

Well, you gotta remember that the top teams in each division can't play themselves, so the niners' NFCW schedule, on paper, will be much "easier." The Rams get the niners twice. They play NE, GB, Det. That's 5 playoff teams. All depends on when we play them.

That was the real sticking point this year, how the first 7 games had zero division rivals, when all of them were more vulnerable (beatable). Both Seattle and Arizona had just one more win than us after 7 games, and it's quite likely we could have gotten our first win against either of them, if the schedule makers had given us just one game.

But even so, teams that were good this year fall off, and bad teams get better. And good teams lose to bad teams far more often than they should.

Lest we forget, the Rams did impact the playoffs this year, denying the Saints the bye week. Too bad we couldn't do the same to SF.
