Because it's the offseason and I'm bored, one day a time machine appears and out climb the 1999 Rams. They want a game. Uh oh.

Current Offense vs. 1999 Defense:

If the 1999 team can get out to a quick lead, this game is over. The 1999 defense is well versed in preserving leads. The OL's biggest job will be keeping Sam from seeing the numbers on any classic jerseys, particularly Kevin Carter's. MLB London Fletcher is underrated and dangerous. Tavon Austin's efficacy might be limited due to this defense seeing fellow mismatch maker Marshall Faulk every week in practice.

1999 Offense vs. Current Defense:

The current team's only hope is putting pressure on Kurt Warner. That's going to be easier said than done. Robert Quinn's unenviable task is to get around the ultra talented Orlando Pace, and it's going to be the unenviable task of our secondary to somehow contain TWO #1 quality receivers in Isaac Bruce and Torry Holt and a talented rest of the corps as well. DO NOT LET MARSHALL FAULK CREATE MISMATCHES.

Special Teams:

While Austin is a dangerous weapon for us, Tony Horne and Az Hakim can change games as well. Our one clear advantage in this game is that I'll take Johnny Hekker over Mike Horan/Rick Tuten any day of the week.

I'm just hoping we can keep this dream game from being TOO embarassing:

1999 Team: 35, Current Team: 14

Actually ,I think it goes a lot like the Rams Titans game from back then,I think Kurt has a lot of trouble with people in his face and can't get the throws off and they keep it tight but GSOT eventually wins 20-13 and the winning score coming in the final minutes.

I can't make up my mind weather this is a Win/Win or a Lose/Lose scenario. I Love these Teams so much. How about 41-41 TIE after 5 quarters of Play!!

The 99 team wouldn't put up 35 points on our defense though. This is going to be a dangerous defense.

The 99 team would be up by three scores before halftime. The new offense friendly rules would see this team shatter every offensive record. They could almost score at will in 99, just imagine what Bruce, Holt, Faulk, Proehl, and Hakim could do when dbacks are flagged for breathing the same air as wideouts now.

This. You wouldn't be able to stop the GSOT nowadays. Literally. They would score 700 points every year. Now if you switched it and we went back in time to 99'. Then yes, it would be a lot like the Titans vs Rams.

99 rams would win easily, but Kurt wouldn't enjoy it. I suspect with how he stood in the pocket he would take a beating. I know its early, but I don't think they faced a dline as good as this one.

Of course, the NFL does seem to rewrite the rulebook just to shut down certain teams (including the Rams) and endorse others (not including the Rams). Look how group celebrations were fine until the Bob n' Weave came along and the NFL was all "FUN MUST STOP IMMEDIATELY!"

To piggyback off of this, I have often said that a huge part of our wideouts durability and longevity came from the fact that they shied away from contact. They were masters at falling on crossing routes to avoid hits, and would drive defensive backfields nuts when they would tip toe out of bounds, throw the ball to the ref, and do it all over again on the next play.

Just imagine what That receiving corps could have done had they been more motivated to stretch big gainers into HUGE gainers. This team struggles enough in the defensive backfield covering elite wideouts now, just imagine if those wideouts were sure fire hall of famers.

I have said it since the draft, the Rams do not have a shut down corner to complement their dominant d line play. It doesn't matter how much we wish Trumaine Johnson and Janoris Jenkins were, they just aren't, and the one way to beat this year's defense will be over the top. The unfortunate thing for the Rams is they play so many teams that, on offense, will do just that.

Yeah, add that to the run first offense having questionable ability to pass and score quickly when needed to... that's by far my biggest worry about the upcoming season... that if we get down quick, they aren't coming back.

I hope I'm wrong though.

99 team was better on Oline, QB, RB, WR, LB, DB and so far coaching.....should be a blow out.
That is an excellent point about the Oline.

I would take Pace-Timmerman-McCollum-Tucker-Miller over Long-Hayes-Brockers-Quinn everyday and twice on Sundays. Not only did they excel in pass protection, but they Bulldozed Marshall Faulk to MVP seasons.

God, I miss those days

Watching Robert Quinn and Orlando Pace going at it would be worth the price of entry alone.

cant figure how to load the page in, but 99 team wins against 2013 team 26-22 the first time and 45-2o the second time
I got a 31-24 result (with the 2013 team being down 31-10 before an abortive comeback.)

It's going to definitely be worth checking it out once the 2014 team is available since we gained a lot more than we lost this offseason.

I totally agree with this.
If you put the GSOT in this offense friendly NFL rules setting of today, you might see them score over 700 points.

17-13 we lose. GW is going to make a world of difference this year.
